Chapter One “I’m just getting home now,” Justin heard Rhydian say. “I stayed back late for football training,” he added, sounding irritable. He didn’t like being harassed. Justin hadn’t failed to notice that Rhydian never smiled when he was on the phone to Jasmine. Rhydian’s frame disappeared behind the barn and Justin knew he wouldn’t see him again. Not until tomorrow. Even if he drove around the village it wouldn’t make any difference. Rhydian was very much like Justin in that way. He stayed at home even though he didn’t like it there. Justin curled his hand around the keys and started the engine again. It was nearly time to go home. But not quite. There was one more sanctuary to visit.
Easing the car out of the roadway, Justin turned left, away from the direction of home.
