"Olimpia Valley: Rehabilitating the Enemy" is a story about a very dark and violent future world. There is a war raging between the civilians and the gangs. The government is weak, the monarchy overthrown and it is left to the police and groups of gifted teenagers to try to save Great Britain from a disastrous future of death. Five strong fighters are chosen by the government to leave behind their lives and start a new one. Together they move to Olimpia Valley each with their own problems and sadness but each enthusiastic about training to fight the war. Aidan is a loner and is reluctant to let his co-workers get close. But his defences are weakened by a rehabilitating gang member - Jake. Through their combined confusion and exhaustion they embark on a strange and dangerous relationship that will test the loyalty of both men to their government and each other.
The time and place this book is set in was an idea I used for a book a year before. I was never very happy with how the original story turned out and so because I loved two of the characters and the world it was set in, I took those two elements and made a new story. I began this book in the summer of 2003, as a second novel, to be written along side one I was already writing. So it was worked on part time. It took nine months to complete. Perhaps one day in the future I would like to return to this story and write more about the life of Aidan Quinn. I personally don't think the writing in this book is good enough for publication but others who have read it disagree so I have kept it online.
